A Night on the River

So, we spent last night hanging out with our fellow volunteers in Mopti.  We started the night with a drink at Restaurant Bozo.  While enjoying the evening, a boat man approached us and asked if we wanted to take a Pinace (boat) trip across the Niger to a fishing village on the other side.  After our friend Stacy negotiated, in Bambara, the price we decided that we could hardly say no, as the price was $5 usd total for the 6 of us to take the sunset cruise.

What a beautiful sunset

Sunset over the Niger...gotta love that

Also, I just got this video to upload, this is the woman in our village pounding millet, on the day of Tabaski.  Dogon woman work hard!

  1. Hi Joe and Ashley,

The pictures are beautiful and you both look very cool . . in all of them. ^
<> do you like my smiley face?
Its good to hear that Bubba had a good time and that sunset looks so beautiful. sometimes it's hard to see pictures because it makes me want to cry. I know this is how things are but it can get me down at times. Anna helps me keep my mind busy and she is always making me laugh. I can't believe it, I haven't made it to the mall to walk yet. Nothing like soda and popcorn haaaaa!!!!! Soon Anna and I will get their.

Keep in touch and miss both of you very much.

    Love Ben,Jody and Anna

  2. Joe and Ash, I'm so sorry to learn about your friend on your blog. What a freak accident and how tragic.

We are sending you a "Christmas" package tomorrow but you said you won't get it for 4 weeks so it will be a Christmas/New Years package!

I just learned yesterday that Bubba was there! How long is he staying? I'm sure it's a great joy to have some family there.

Have a great Christmas and know how much we miss you both at the holidays.....and everyday! We love you both!
